As part of World Conservation Day, celebrated annually on 28 July, we reflect on the role of the circular economy in preserving ecosystems and natural resources.
The importance of nature conservation
World Conservation Day is celebrated on 28 July with the aim of raising awareness of growing environmental problems.
At the same time, this day is a reminder that preserving the planet is only possible if we join forces - citizens, companies and public organisations alike. It is precisely in this spirit of partnership that R3 Natura is positioning itself as a strategic agent in the ecological transition.

Created in 1988 by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, this event takes on an even more special significance in Portugal, as it coincides with the anniversary of the founding of the League for the Protection of Nature (LPN) - the oldest environmental defence association on the Iberian Peninsula.

The clearest example of this trend is Earth Overshoot Day, which continues to advance year after year.
Climate change, pollution, depletion of natural resources, loss of biodiversity, extinction of species, degradation of habitats... These phenomena are not isolated events: they are deeply interconnected and cause a huge imbalance in nature.

These challenges require systemic responses that involve citizens, companiesIt is also important to encourage the development of new technologies, industries and public organisations to mitigate global warming, promote well-being and build a greener and more competitive economy.
The role of the circular economy in nature conservation
The circular economy valorises and transforms what already exists, keeping raw materials on the market thanks to their reuse, recycling and transformation.
By extending the life cycle of materials and avoiding the production of industrial waste, it is possible to reduce pressure on ecosystems and the extraction of virgin resources, protecting planet Earth.
